South London outfit Dry Cleaning are slated to release their sophomore album Stumpwork on October 21st via 4AD. The record is the follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut LP New Long Leg, which landed back in 2021.

Along with the announcement, Dry Cleaning have also unveiled a new track titled ‘Anna Calls From The Arctic’. With the song’s name being the literal inspiration behind the tune, musically the sound is quite atmospheric and calming, which is highlights the band’s expansion, widening their palette from the expected post-punk handing from their past work.

Below is a visualiser of the track which you can check out.

In a press statement detailing the song, Dry Cleaning wrote:

“The lyrics were partly inspired by phone calls with a friend who was living and working in the Arctic. The song developed from a keyboard, bass and clarinet jam. This then took shape during our pre-recording sessions with John Parish and Joe Jones in Bristol and finalized at Rockfield studios a month later, with some musical inspiration coming from the dramatic scores of John Barry. The song is observational and sensual.”
