Dichter X Boah is the collaboration of Ethiopian born, Rotterdam raised emcee Dichter (Poet) and DJ/Producer G-Boa formerly of the successful group Postmen. Having come together at the Zadkine College in Rotterdam, where Dichter auditioned for the Popacademie, G-Boa recognized the talent of the young rapper and the two began working together to create musical magic. The E.P. “Horen, Zien & Voelen” is the result of this merging that the duo is giving out as a free download.
Already known as a fixture in the Netherlands music scene with his work in the Hip-Hop/Reggae group Postmen, G-Boah effortlessly crafts the tracks on “Horen, Zien & Voelen” which can only be described as Hip-Hop/Soul jumping into an electronic future. Dichter ‘s airy yet sharp vocals blends perfectly with the beats. “Blèren” sets off the EP with an energetic jump up/wild out vibe with it’s almost chaotic like samples reminiscent of something the Bomb Squad would have done but in the modern times while “Weggaat” sounds like the theme from a detective crime saga as Dichter chants “If you go away way way way…”. The soulful yet futuristic “Ander Perspectief” with it’s choppy keys, horns and sporadic laser sounds is surely one highlight of many on the E.P.
“Horen, Zien & Voelen” by Dichter X Boah is a great body of work that proves that Hip-Hop music is alive and strong and truthfully, is one of the better Hip-Hop releases so far in 2011. For people who don’t speak Dutch, just sit back and feel the vibe; you will get it!
