Coming off of the back of her impressive 2023 album GOOD LUCK, Toronto rising star Debby Friday makes her return with her new single ‘1/17’.

No stranger to experimenting with various styles of music, for ‘1/17’, Debby Friday taps into the sounds of dance pop which actually borders Eurodance. And while the topics of nude selfies and Ancient Greece may not be the first thing that comes to mind in terms of correlation, they actually go hand in hand, and Debby Friday has a way of bridging them together with the content of this track.

Touching on the video, Debby Friday stated:

“It’s based on an amalgamation of two experiences that I had. The first was when I won the Polaris Prize at Massey Hall, which felt like a peak moment in my career. The second was when, nine months later, I played a festival show to absolutely no one in the audience. I’ve spent the past year detaching myself from the highs and lows of this business and trying to see everything as a sign. Of what? I don’t know. But I’m sure in the end, it’ll all mean something.”
