Leeds band Dead Naked Hippies continue to roll out tracks, this time with their latest cut ‘Young Male Rage’. Using a palette of fiery punk and alternative, singer Lucy Jowett’s punching vocal delivery is backed by raging guitar riffs and rapid drumming as the band touches on the topic of gender. The track can be purchased as a split 7′ single along with No Fixed Identity’s ‘123 Come Play With Me’ via the Come Play With Me imprint.
Detailing the song, front woman Lucy Jowett said:
“This is about gender norms – the conditioning we subject our children to from a young age in the values we instill and in particular the idea of male dominance and the toxic effect it can have. Earlier this year this topic was constantly cropping up between us, and ‘Young Male Rage’ was the result of these conversations – from the perspective of a mixed gender band. We wanted to flip this on its head and project it from the female voice.”
