Back in 2019 Collard released his debut album Unholy, coming off of the back of tracks like 2017’s ‘Sofa’, as well as his work with former crew Last Night In Paris. A complete soul gumbo, stylistically the LP fused sounds ranging from Prince-style electric funk to Marvin Gaye sleek, and even a bit of D’Angelo-bridged modernism. With the record being critically acclaimed, Collard wasted no time continuing to drop singles throughout 2020 – 22. He now makes his return in 2023 with a new two-track project titled Good Fog.
Good Fog features the earth-grounded funk and soul cut ‘Donnys Wylin Out’, as well as the acoustic-driven song ‘Times’. Whilst the music itself shimmers vibrantly, the songwriting dazzles just as incredibly with Collard’s ability to paint vivid pictures bursting with radiance. If this is a set-up to a sophomore album, then Collard has us impatiently waiting. Good Fog is out now via Hi-Tea Records.
