To do a cover version of a classic song such as Billy Idol’s ‘Dancing With Myself’, one better do it pure justice. South African-originated, Nashville-based band Civil Twilight have taken up the challenge by completely reconstructing the tune into a floating wonderland of minimal magic, giving the classic hit new life.

Reflecting on the cover, Civil Twilight singer Steven McKellar wrote:

“I was sitting down with a friend of mine listening to that song one day. He read me the lyrics while the song was playing and I just thought they were so beautiful. They struck me in a way that they never had before. I thought, ‘This song would make such a beautiful ballad.’ So we decided to record it that way, really sparse and sensitive.”
