London/Zurich experimental duo DIVVAS, consisting of Corinne Nora and Dave Eleanor, have unveiled their latest single ‘White Room’. The track follows their previously released cut ‘Koac’. Creating an alchemy of smokey, abstract jazz and haunting electronica, the ghostly vocals of Corinne Nora are met with colliding hi-hats, eerie effects and slow-driving, bouncy drum patterns. Sonically falling between beautiful and unsettling, the song exemplifies the pair’s aim of blurring the lines of genre. ‘White Room’ is taken from DIVVAS’ forthcoming EP Challenger Deep, out June 26th.
DIVVAS have also released a video of their single ‘White Room’, which you can check out below.
Touching on their sound and EP, Corinne Nora stated:
“We like our music to have this vacuum type of feeling that just sucks you right in.
This EP is about about allowing yourself to enter into your personal abyss, the deep-sea level of emotions. It’s about facing the darkness and that which is unknown to you, but is lurking inside. Maybe you forgot it or you actively tried to hide it.”
Dave Eleanor also added:
“We almost didn’t take any breaks for an entire week! We were creating non-stop, which of course induces a very special type of rush, like a high or a flash. We sank into this sonic world that we created, both musically and mentally.”
