TLC, N’Sync, Spice Girls and The Matrix are just a few references that Charli XCX and Troye Sivan use in their video for ‘1999’. We’re guessing that this is more of an ode to the 90’s as opposed to specifically the year 1999 considering that TLC ‘Waterfalls’ (one vid that they recreate) was actually released in 1995 and Spice Girls’ ‘Say You’ll Be There’ dropped in 1996. Never the less, for anyone who is old enough to have lived through the mid to late 90s will surely find the references nostalgic. Enjoy.
