Musician, singer and actor Caleb Landry Jones steps forth with his latest single ‘Bogie’, taken from his new album Gadzooks Vol. 1, landing September 24th via Sacred Bones.
‘Bogie’ finds Jones delivering a 60s powered sound of psychedelic, and indeed it’s good. Slow, stoner guitar lines weave around breezy drumming and thumping bass licks. Caleb Landry Jones’ theatrical vocals add another layer to the single in the best way possible. There are also carnival-esque change-ups in the song that are reminiscent of that classic Beatles magic from yesteryear. Fostering an air of nostalgia, Caleb Landry Jones hits the nail on the head with this brilliant handing.
Regarding the forthcoming LP and the creative process, Caleb Landry Jones said:
“The perspectives from which I write, jump erratically and can turn on a dime. Others grow and burn, only to sometimes vanish on the spot, just before the hat drops. . . My intention is to not rob the listener of their own fantasies by describing the annals of purpose which in turn, only unearth a fragile magic. I am interested only in the album’s response by its audience. The album is there to be digested, not by the front of your brain, but by the back. It is for the lover of labyrinths and quagmires.”
