Los Angeles trio Automatic have been on an absolute winning streak with the release of their previous two singles ‘Mercury’ and ‘Is It Now?’. This is all in lead up to their forthcoming third album Is it Now?, out Sept 26th on Stones Throw. They continue the momentum with their latest song ‘Lazy’.
With upbeat drums kicking off the track before bringing in a funk bass line as well as 80s-inspired synths, ‘Lazy’ operates in spaces between new wave, synth-pop, post-punk. and minimal wave. While the production is spacious, it’s a great palette for the straight ahead and sometimes perky vocal performance. Overall ‘Lazy’ is another fantastic offering, and yet again another add-on to Automatic’s golden streak that they’re on. Have a listen.
