UK singer Annabel Jones is no stranger to challenging the structure of pop music. Her 2015 solo debut track ‘Magnetic’ was an unorthodox styling of tinkling electronica and blossoming pop overtures which, similar to acts like Bjork, could almost be hard to pigeonhole into one specific genre. This in itself was a part of Jones’ magic.

Now signed to Atlantic Records / Cooked Paintings, Annabel Jones returns in 2016 with her new single ‘IOU’. Bouncy with an infectious electronic-pop appeal, Jones’ breezy vocals combined with a feisty swagger makes this a great precursor to her forthcoming Libelle EP and an all-around excellent pop bit.

Regarding the state of modern pop, Annabel Jones wrote:

“You can’t keep putting out meaningless noise and expect culture to grow or evolve. You can’t refuse to put yourself out there and say what you think or feel because you won’t get that Steve Madden shoe collaboration or a perfume at Macy’s.”
