It’s been 10 years since the release of Alabama Shakes’ sophomore LP Sound & Color. In 2018 the group split, with singer Brittany Howard launching her solo career to great success. Fast forward to 2024, the band came back together for a performance in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which eventually led to a number of further shows, as well the news that they were indeed working on new music. What has manifested is this new track titled ‘Another Life’.

Operating as if they never took a hiatus, Alabama Shakes are in optimal form with ‘Another Life’, delivering a heavy beat swinging taste of moody soul whilst tapping into their rock bag to add ever more grit. Brittany Howard’s vocals are incredible on the song, with the singer at moments flying into wild, Prince let loose territory. ‘Another Life’ is an absolutely fantastic single from the trio. While there hasn’t been an announcement on a new album yet, we’re keeping our fingers crossed. Have a listen.
