Top Pick: The Outers ‘Wishy Washy’

London band The Outers is an outfit that absolutely needs to on your radar. Having released a few singles over the past couple of years, their music has a particularly familiarity that is not only distinctive of certain periods throughout UK music history, but is bursting with enthusiasm that is gives you that extra boost. Dropping their single ‘Time For Tears’ back in April of this year, they now return with the track ‘Wishy Washy’.

A brilliant stir of punk, indie, and even reggae trimmings, ‘Wishy Washy’ storms in with these fiery guitar riffs before breaking down enough to allow front woman Ade Seriki to fly with her lassoing vocals. The production is great, fostering an organic feel, giving the listener a complete package of sing-along melodies, thoughtful content, and killer sonics to make you move. For those who love bands like The Selecter, this will be right up your alley.

Touching on the track, singer Ade Seriki of The Outers stated:

“It is about a character driven by disguised self interest always trying to take advantage of people and situations, despite permanent efforts to project a glamorous appearance and chase popularity, actions guided by circumstances and greed will clash with his narrative. Acting behind closed doors to gain power by isolating others or pinning them against each other, the character does not realise his intentions show.”
