Berlin-based artist Albertine Sarges has unveiled her latest single titled ‘Reflection’, taken from her upcoming LP Girl Missing, out February 21st, 2025.
Whilst her previous tracks have been revved up, ‘Reflection’ is a gorgeous indie folk offering that is led by acoustic guitar lines, whilst being accompanied by these tender, almost cinematic strings. Sarges’ airy vocals are truly warming, with the single being one true work of art.
Touching on the track, Albertine Sarges stated:
“‘Reflection’ was written the longest ago, and was almost the hardest one to re-craft. We did everything you could imagine. One day I found Lo Selbo with the volume wheel up to 80%, frenetically jumping up and down playing keyboard with a saw synth sound. For obscure reasons he had come up with a Paul van Dyke dance club version which I still believe will make us rich some day, but not on this album.
I ended up recording ‘Reflection’ exactly the way I would have done it in my songwriting beginnings: A home recording with a Western guitar, adding a midi Mellotron sampler to it. I wrote Reflection when I was 16. Back in the day, I thought the song was about my best friend, but later realized it was about my Mother. It is possible to psychoanalyze your own songs.”
