Previously releasing singles such as ‘Running’ and ‘Not Your Boyfriend’, Birmingham’s Gaby K has dropped her new EP The Good, The Bad & The Boring. The 6-track record fuses the sounds of R&B, pop, trap and more. Delivering nothing short of soulful vocals, the EP also follows her support from BBC Introducing WM ‘Track of the Week’.

Touching on the EP, Gaby K stated:

“I feel that everyone has experienced at least 2 of these relationships in their lives and would be able to relate to my stories; this EP is a reflection of my journey so far and how those experiences have defined me today.

When writing about the ‘bad’ relationships, I wanted the words to be less sad and more about the strength and the fierceness of not settling and knowing your worth. I’m not one to stay upset but more to stand up for myself and move on if I have to, don’t allow anyone to question your worth. You can’t have bad experiences without the good, even if it’s just a good part of a bad relationship. I felt very vulnerable writing the ‘good’, it is easier to have an outlet when you’re angry or upset, so this was a challenge for me to write about being happy (for once).

Not all relationships are long term and I can’t forget the ‘single life’ aspect, so I wrote ‘Not My Boyfriend’. This song represents the freedom to do whatever you want, to not be in a relationship but have your own fun and enjoy life how you want to. The word ‘Boring’ is about the people who push relationships on you, society telling you that you need to be with someone.”
