303 Second Birthday w/ Dave Clarke, Andrew Weatherall & more at Camp and Furnace, May 3rd, Liverpool

flyer

Named after the infamous Roland drum machine, Liverpool clubnight 303 has consistently been about aligning the present with the past. They’ve done so by booking DJs that retain a history and a heritage alongside a modern output, artists that are perpetually looking forward but with the hindsight of the past to back it up. Past guests have included Slam, Satoshi Tomiie and Dave Seaman, all of which perfectly encapsulate that ethos.

They will mark two years of clubbing activity this May, ushering in the celebrations with their biggest event to date across three rooms of the Camp and Furnace, the venue in the city’s hip Baltic district venue. The line-up underlines this attitude, welcoming back three of their most iconic bookings alongside a couple of debuts, with each room’s headliner playing an extended set of three hours.

The first space is all about funk laced electro and thunderous techno, ‘The Baron’ Dave Clarke returning alongside the first 303 performance from Billy Nasty – who also makes his first Liverpool appearance in nearly half a decade. Liverpool’s love affair with the harder end of the four four beat has been a constant for three decades, from Voodoo to Bugged Out!, and both these guests have played integral roles within it. Support comes from Mr Paul and Stu Hodson.

The second room sees 303 team up with electronic music website Decoded Magazine, the room dubbed 909 after a later model of Roland’s machines. The music here will be a more eclectic acid house inspired vibe, with two talismanic forces at the helm, Andrew Weatherall and Justin Robertson, both icons in their own right whose previous 303 performances are the stuff of legend. Support comes in the shape of Gemma Arnott and Kenny Muir.

The final room has North West rave par excellence LoLife manning things, the Liverpool and Manchester based soiree one of the best clubnights of the region. The night’s talismanic resident and promoter Lauren Lo Sung headlines, with 303’s own Samuel Lamont backing her up.
