Omar is without a doubt the king of UK soul. With a career spanning over three decades, the appointed MBE has built a legacy that is permanently imprinted in music, not to mention has proven to be one of the most dynamic performers of our time.

On January 31st Omar will release his new album The Anthology, a 20-song collection of songs recorded throughout his career. The LP features some of his collaboration cuts with acts such as Erykah Badu, Carleen Anderson, Robert Glasper, Terri Walker and more. There are also a couple of unreleased tracks that are also included on the new record. The Anthology will get released digitally and on 2-disc CDs via Freestyle Records.

Touching on his career, Omar stated:

“I feel blessed. I try to keep things moving and evolving, and when I finish an album, I always put my heart and soul into it. I’m looking at it from an outsider’s point of view, because I never really see myself making the music. It’s like I’m the vessel and somebody’s controlling what I do, I just happen to be the one that gets the praise for it.”

Omar also recently performed a live version of ‘Pass It On’ with Terri Walker on BBC 1xtra. You can watch the video below.
