Anyone who has followed Wretch 32’s career for the past almost 20 years can attest to the his impeccable growth as not only an artist but an overall business and renaissance man. From the early days of The Movement with lyrical titans Ghetts, Scorcher, Mercston, and Devlin, to his solo mixtapes and albums, Wretch has surely been considered one of the true gems of UK culture. The North London artist now joins forces with Little Simz and Benjamin AD for his new single and video ‘Black and British’.
The Meeks and Frost-directed video is magnificently shot, with Wretch 32 vividly painting a picture of what it means to be black and living in England. There are scenes that are shot in gallery showcasing stellar black art, which also reflects the power and beauty that still rises through adversity. Little Simz’s incredible storytelling, which compliments Wretch’s narrative perfectly, is also visually captured with scenes of her and Wretch 32’s dreads tied together. Everything about ‘Black and British’ is pure class. Check it out.
