Tricky has detailed information regarding his new album Skilled Mechanics, which is set for release January 22nd on the False Idols label. Dubbed as more of a collaborative project, the idea was birthed after Tricky’s relocation to Berlin earlier in the year. Along with features which include Chinese rapper Ivy, as well as drummer Luke Harris, the LP includes multiple appearances by The Wild Bunch co-founder DJ Milo.
Touching on the inspiration behind the title of the forthcoming album, in a press statement Tricky wrote:
“The name comes from a documentary about espionage. here was an ex-C.I.A. agent on this programme speaking about assassins who were sent abroad by the US to start revolutions and topple governments. He called them ‘skilled mechanics’. I thought that was a great name for someone who was a killer basically. The name was so dark and cynical it just stuck with me.”
Skilled Mechanics is available for pre-order via Tricky’s webshop.
