Brighton’s hometown funk heroes The Impellers are ready to release their next single “Do What I Wanna Do” on 5th April on Légère Recordings. Remaining consistent with their heavy soul blueprint, the band’s use of their powerful horn section combined with Clair Witcher’s wide ranged vocals is the perfect blend making it difficult to not want to shake a leg. But that’s the point. Listening to the trumpet solo alone will have you hooked on the line and reeled with an unwillingness to want to break free. Once again, that’s the objective. The single includes the track “Signs of Hope and Happiness” that has hints of Al Green peppered style soul sprinkled on top. Preserving the legacy of that down home gritty funk sound, The Impellers are currently one of the best to do it which makes this release another must have in the literal or virtual crates.
