Already supported by BBC 1xtra's Jamz Supernova East London-based vocalist Jerome Thomas dropped his project 'Mood Swings (Volume One)' back in 2019. A heavy dose of smokey soul, Thomas was compared to giants such as D'Angelo. He now steps up in 2020 with his new single 'I Don't Need'. Another handing of intergalactic soul packed with a swinging Hip-Hop drum backing, the glistening build-ups in the instrumentation compliments Thomas' sleek delivery.
Sean Bowie aka Yves Tumor is set to release his new album 'Heaven To A Tortured Mind' on April 3rd via Warp. With that being said, Bowie has also shared the video to his single 'Gospel For A New Century'. Whilst the song is a funky and head-swaying blast of electronic soul, the Isamaya Ffrench-directed visuals lean more on the darker side with Yves Tumor performing the cut whilst dressed like a devil.
Paris-based artist Hendrix Harris steps up with his latest track 'Should I'. The mellow and breezy production draws influence from Afro-Cuban rhythms, inspired from his many visits to Havana. The sounds coincide with Harris' smokey vocals with a female vocal performance beautifully placed at the tail end of the song.
South London's King Krule recently unveiled the video for his track '(Don't Let The Dragon) Draag On'. Without wasting anytime, he now shares another vid, this time for a song called 'Alone, Omen 3'. Directed by Jocelyn Anquetil, the visuals find King Krule surrounded by crowds of people before quickly standing by himself. At the end of the day, he sits with friends on a bench, understanding that he is truly not alone in this thing called life.
Brixton artist Santino Le Saint questions the goodness of his character whilst in a relationship in his latest single 'Unholy'. A slow and dark R&B offering, Le Saint sings " I want to be different for you, but I cannot change". An almost cry for help, the singer also rips a guitar solo in the rear of the track that bursts through the spacious production.
Stroud-raised, London-based singer Max Rad follows up his track 'Oh My Brother' with a new monster of a song titled 'Old Toy'. With the production encompassing a slow-burning, funky-driven soul feel to it, Rad delivers smokey vocals whilst crooning about being unable to forget about a past love.
