Slothrust provide the visuals to their single 'Double Down', also highlighting how much of terror frontwoman Leah Wellbaum can be when at a local launderette. Aside from dancing in the place, she throws people's freshly cleaned clothes out of the basket and onto the floor, not to mention jumps on top of the machines kicking lids. Now mind you, there isn't a lot to do while waiting on clothes to wash, but when Wellbaum eventually elevates to the ceiling, then that becomes the final straw with customers.
Placing Slothrust and Brittany Spears in the same sentence sounds about as crazy as calling Donald Trump sensible. However, whilst one wouldn't immediately associate the Boston alternative band with a pop act like Spears, they have created quite the cover version of her hit single 'Baby One More Time'. Completely restructuring the cut into a swinging alt rock hitter 10 times better than the original version in our opinion, the song is taken from Slothrust's 'Show Me How You Want It To Be' EP of covers which also includes reworkings of Black Sabbath's 'Electric Funeral' and Al Green's 'Let’s Stay Together', just to name a few. Slothrust will release their forthcoming EP of covers titled 'Show Me How You Want It To Be' on November 10th via Dangerbird Records. One of the songs featured on the new record is their hard-rocking version of the Marcy Playground single 'Sex And Candy'. The cover magnifies the band's higly diverse palette, with each member actually stemming from a jazz background. However, this Marcy Playground rework, as well as their unique versions of Black Sabbath, Louis Armstrong and even Brittany Spears will let the world know that this trio can practically play any style with ease. Brooklyn band Slothrust are rock & roll to the core with a strong background in jazz. Harking back to their 2012 debut release 'Feels Your Pain' straight to their 2016 LP 'Everyone Else', the sophistication of instrumentation lends credence to their roots. The group now share their song 'Milking The Snake', a B-side track to their last record. Merging the hard guitar style of Black Sabbath with grunge-punk steerings, these NYC rockers can't do any wrong at the moment. Have a listen.
