Lots Holloway Interview

Lots Holloway isn’t your everyday, run of the mill singer. She is an artist who has chosen to use her gift to spark conversation and movement around issues that are important of today, as well as delivering a window into the self. The Cornwall-born, London-based wonder is a powerhouse entity, not only blessed with a graceful voice, but is an insanely skilled multi-instrumentalist and producer. Releasing her debut single 'World’s On Fire' earlier this year, the emotive pop record was a vivid slice of social commentary touching on the present global state that we’re all witnessing and living. Her follow-up song 'Is Anything Real Anymore' was another incredible and masterful offering of pop constructed with stunning orchestration and again insightful lyrics. Lots Holloway’s current track 'Stay A Little Longer' finds the artist spawning a darker sound swirling together indie and trip-hop-inspired electronica, bridging a 90s sound the now.

Hanni El Khatib ‘Paralyzed’ Video

It's one thing to maybe come across one Michael Jackson impersonator in your time, but to feature two in the same setting; this may sound like an absurd dream of Hollywood Blvd., but in fact it is the latest video by Hanni El Khatib titled 'Paralyzed'. Directed by Daniel Pappas, there is a blonde woman featured in the vid who sings Hanni El Khatib's part whilst the MJ look-a-likes get busy behind her performing a few signature dance moves of the original Mike. The song is taken from Hanni El Khatib's latest album ' Savage Times', out now via Innovative Leisure.

ColoRising Mixes 32: Griff Lynch

Aside from having recorded amazing music with the Welsh band Yr Ods, Griff Lynch has continued to create cultural bridges, performing songs in his native language, reeling listeners into the utterly magnificent offerings from the beautiful Wales land. Musically gliding between everything ranging from indie to electronica, it would do injustice to try to pin Griff Lynch down to any one specific box. However, his flawless tying between sometimes not so happy themes with contrasting, vibrant rhythms is a part of the listening wonder.

Algiers ‘Cleveland’ Video

Algiers' second album 'The Underside Of Power' have been quite the talk of 2017. Continuing to address issues such as police brutality, political corruption and more, the band have now brought forth the video for the powerful track 'Cleveland'. Filmed in New York City , clips of the Black Panther Party are weaved in between frantic, high contrast images of singer Franklin James Fisher performing the song in the streets of Brooklyn and Staten Island, the places of the police killings of Eric Garner and Akai Gurley. The video is directed by Algiers, along with Marisa Gesualdi and Sam Campbell. Have a look.

ColoRising Interview with Ice Balloons

NYC band Ice Balloons are consistently dubbed as a super group. To an extent that may be true but the group are first and foremost friends who have come together to create art with absolute freedom and room to explore. Consisting of Sean Kennerly of Samiam, TV On The Radio’s Kyp Malone, Sean Powell of Fuckemos, Midnight Masses’ Giselle Reiber, B.A. Miale, Rob Bryn of Wild Yaks and Dan Scinta, their music is a collage of riotous punk, New York no wave, garage rock and noise all rolled up into one event of a listen. To call it energetic would be an understatement and in terms of their stage show, well let’s just say that it is probably one of the liveliest performances one could see…ever! Wilder than wild, the ‘common fly’ charges about on stage singing vocals and at some point in the show there may even be sparks popping and flying about on his body.
