Liverpool/London TOKKY HORROR, a new band formed by Zee Davine of Queen Zee fame, have unveiled their debut single 'Girlracer'. What appears the be the beginning of a slew of music coming into the near future, the song is a punchy drum & bass-driven offering splashed with a punk attitude that is bold and unapologetic.
Swedish artist Melanie Mohlkert aka CRONICLE isn't one to fall victim to the constraints of musical boundaries. Whilst many fans remember her as the front woman of the Stockholm punk-pop band Tantrum to Blind, a group who graced the screens of MTV, her latest venture finds the versatile singer delivering a euphoric mixture of R&B, trap and pop that burns with the same flaming blaze that she has brought to the world of rock and even emo.
L.A.-based band All Things Blue are scheduled to release their new album 'Get Bit' on October 2nd. One of the songs taken from the upcoming LP is their new single appropriately titled 'Dicking Around', the follow-up to their previous cut 'Chad'. An eargasmic and utterly dreamy soundscape, the tune touches on dealing with that mental triggering that spawns one to act on impulses.
Denver band Knuckles Pups emerged within the DIY punk scene of the city. Having released their EP 'San Panino' back in 2018, the lively group is now gearing up for the release their debut album. The first single taken from the upcoming LP is their vivid song entitled 'California', which Knuckle Pups have also shared an accompanying video for. Directed by Olivia Hendrick, a former student of KP front man Oliver Holloway, the wild and fun visuals feature the band dressed up in vegetable costumes whilst enjoying playful moments on the street. Eventually however, they end up meeting their fate, which happens to be every veggie's nightmare.
Los Angeles trio L.A. Witch will release their new album 'Play With Fire' on August 21st via the Suicide Squeeze label. The record follows their 2018 EP 'Octubre', as well as their 2017 self-titled debut album. L.A. Witch have also unveiled their new single 'I Wanna Lose'. A brilliant handing of rock & roll alchemy, the tune bridges punk, grunge, psychedelic and elements of garage in one sitting.
Back in 2018 Bristol band IDLES released one of the best albums of that year with their critically-acclaimed LP 'Joy as an Act of Resistance'. Combining the sounds of punk, post-punk, noise and more, the group challenged the standard ideas of masculinity, promoted self-love and dealt with issues revolving around immigration.
Los Angeles band Death Valley Girls will release their forthcoming EP 'Breakthrough' on June 12th via Suicide Squeeze Records. The group have also shared the title track to the new record. Inspired by Damien Echols of the West Memphis 3, the song is a stampeding mix of metal, psychedelic and garage rock that is packed with anthemic vocals and raw, effective instrumentation.
Manchester band PINS have released their third album 'Hot Slick'. Comprised of ten songs in total, the record finds the trio expanding their sound beyond their earlier post-punk roots, incorporating electro, dance and indie pop rhythms. The new work follows their 2015 album 'Wild Nights'. Although a 5 year gap, PINS dropped a slew of singles including 'Aggrophobe' featuring Iggy Pop, 'Bad Thing' and 'Serve The Rich'.
Hull band Life have unveiled a new remix of their track 'Switching On' courtesy of guitarist Mark Bowen of IDLES. Sonically bold and intense, Bowen pulls from an industrial blueprint, incorporating sinister guitar riffs, lashing snares, distortion and more. Like a musical attack directly from the front line, the groundwork of the original version is firmly embedded in the rework.
Back in 2016, NYC rockers High Waisted dropped their charismatic debut album 'On Ludlow'. Bridging everything from 50s rock, surf, pop punk and more, the release was a wild and fun ride with the group's live shows just as energetic.
