L.A. Witch will release their new album 'Play With Fire' on August 21st on Suicide Squeeze Records. Having already shared the singles 'I Wanna Lose' and 'Gen-Z', the trio now step forth with the third cut entitled 'True Believers'. Fusing a heavy mesh of hard rock, psychedelic and post-punk, the track powers through with a sense of urgency as the content touches on chaos of the current world and the continuous bombardment of bad news.
Grimsby band Mint have released their latest EP 'M180'. The 3-track record is an ode to those teenage years of growing up in Northern England, having to create means of excitement and adventurous times in not overly lively towns. Sonically the EP is a electric and wild ride of alternative, fuzzy psychedelic and noise rock, all acting as an amplified soundtrack to youth.
The Holy Knives have team-up with The Kills' Jamie Hince for a remix of their track 'Always Gone'. Hazy guitar licks, church bells and slow-marching drumming are the base of the production. What can be described as spaghetti western meets psychedelic, desert rock, Hince's version is dark, sultry and uber sexy.
Los Angeles band Death Valley Girls will release their forthcoming EP 'Breakthrough' on June 12th via Suicide Squeeze Records. The group have also shared the title track to the new record. Inspired by Damien Echols of the West Memphis 3, the song is a stampeding mix of metal, psychedelic and garage rock that is packed with anthemic vocals and raw, effective instrumentation.
Aside from having one of the top EPs of 2019 with 'Town Centre', in 2020 Brighton band Squid released their grooving single 'Sludge'. Refusing to slow down the momentum, they now bring forth their latest track titled 'Broadcaster'. Once again proving that musically they are one of the most diverse bands out today, Squid delve into the realms of psychedelic and synthwave, as a sequenced synth line lay atop spacey layers. There is also an element of drone incorporated into the production which flows without drums. Another killer offering, the track is taken from their 'Sludge/Broadcaster' pack, which will also land on vinyl via Warp Records on June 26th.
Canadian band Fake Shape made their debut a month ago with the track 'Headspace'. The group have now unveiled a new single entitled 'It's Easy'. A complete wonderland of musical goodness, Fake Shape deliver a collage of psychedelic, spaced-out indie, funk and drifting pop. With lush guitar riffs gliding over twinkling synths, jazzy drumming, 'It's Easy' is an overly brilliant track rich with blossoming textures and depths.
Already known as an accomplished actor, Caleb Landry Jones is also ready flaunt the musical side of his talents. With his album 'The Mother Stone' scheduled to land May 1st on Sacred Bones, he has unveiled his latest track 'All I Am in You / The Big Worm'. A theatrical wonderland of psychedelic, there are rhythm shifts throughout and even vocal change-ups that truly make for an interesting and exciting listen. Coming out of Detroit is the band Shadow Show, who have been releasing a number of incredible garage rock and psychedelic tracks over the past year and a half. With their debut album 'Silhouettes' out February 14th via Burger Records / Stolen Body Records, the trio have shared their latest single entitled 'Charades.
Norwegian band Mayflower Madame are set to release their forthcoming album 'Prepared for a Nightmare' on March 27th via Only Lovers Records. One of the tracks featured on the LP is the group's single 'Vultures'. The haunting cut is built on a menacing bass line, an eerie guitar riff and punchy vocals, all resulting in a dark and thunderous post-punk juggernaut.
London band Weird Milk explore the sounds of baroque pop, psych and more in their latest single 'Time Machine'. Drawing from the stylistic influences of David Bowie and even a splash of The Arctic Monkeys, the track is a collage of rhythms that drive the listener through multiple soundscapes that are at times theatrical and other moments quite funky.
