Brooklyn-based group The Bright Smoke have brought forth their latest track entitled 'Model Citizen'. Beginning the song with bossa style drums, the hefty indie tune punches with sinister post-punk guitars with singer Mia Wilson vocally binding everything tightly together.
Post-punk mainstays The Membranes will release their new double album 'What Nature Gives...Nature Takes Away'. The LP is the follow-up to their 2015 record 'Dark Matter/Dark Energy'. Landing June 7th via John Robb's Louder Than War imprint, the new work features the BIMM Choir, musically weaving between post-punk, krautrock, dub and more. There will also be limited edition deluxe double vinyl with only 150 pressings exclusive to the Louder Than War website.
Post-punk/coldwave leaders Boy Harsher have announced the release of a couple of remix singles, landing June 28th. The pair have pressed 'Come Closer' and 'Tears' MAXI 12s on black vinyl, with a clear vinyl deluxe edition limited to only 300 copies. The 'Come Closer' package includes remixes by Marcel Dettmann and Bonaventure, with the 'Tears' pack featuring reworks by Silent Servant and Minimal Violence.
Hailing from Cardiff is the art rock band Silent Forum. Quite the outfit, there sound is a juxtaposition between that of classic familiarity and refreshing modernity. With an LP currently in the works, Silent Forum's current release is the single 'Safety in Numbers' which is out via Libertino Records.
Canadian band Bad Animal have shared their new single 'Boombox', taken from their latest LP 'Growing Pains'. With two guitar riffs swirling around one another to set off the song, the track elevates into a explosive etching of indie rock that whilst, not only punchy, but plays with structural taste that makes for a truly exciting listen.
Hull band LIFE made Radio 1's best album list back in 2017 with their debut LP 'Popular Music', and rightfully so. An exiting package of punk, post-punk and indie, there was a nostalgia factor in the record harking back to early Manchester acts such as The Fall, yet perfectly fitting for the now.
Los Angeles band French Vanilla have delivered some classic punk funk with their latest track 'All The Time'. With a slick, rubbery bass line lashing through the cut, upbeat drumming, blazing horns and pouty vocals all play a part in this spirited and highly addictive record. The song is taken from French Vanilla's 'How Am I Not Myself?', which is out June 7th.
Belgian post punk band Whispering Sons unveil the video for their haunting track 'Hollow'. Filmed in a forest, the spooky vid displays people gathering amongst the tree of life for what appears to be a ritualistic experience. Directed by Pieter De Ridder, the song is taken from Whispering Sons' 'Image' LP, out via PIAS. Check it out.
