On Easter Saturday 19th April 2014, Memory Box returns to Plan B to continue its series of parties that explore the ‘History of Acid House’. This next instalment comes from pirate radio resident rapper, come pop star, come House & Techno royalty, Mr.C and Chicago based Hip House creator, Tyree Cooper.
Mixpak Records began in early 2009 as a sonic powerhouse where house music, dancehall, rap and punk could not only co-exist, but be combined in new and exciting ways. The imprint is the vision of Brooklyn-based DJ/producer Dre Skull, whose resume includes an impressive list of collaborations with the likes of Vybz Kartel, Diplo, Snoop Dogg, Lil Scrappy, and Sizzla. "I wanted to build something that could bridge many different worlds," Dre explains of the Mixpak ethos. "With the music industry undergoing cataclysmic shifts, it created interesting opportunities for creativity and we're playing in that space."
On Saturday 25th January 2014, Memory Box turns 1 year young with celebrations coming from legendary club culture heroes A Guy Called Gerald and 808 State! In its inaugural year, Memory Box has captured and celebrated defining moments in the last few decades of electronic music.
