Squid's latest single 'The Cleaner' is a perfect blend of post-punk, punk funk and new wave that is joyous nod at late 70s - early 80s sounds by acts such as Talking Heads and Delta 5.
Brighton band Youth Sector step forth with a modern twist of late 70s, early 80s new wave, post-punk and punk funk with their latest track 'Renting Spaces In My World'. Drawing inspiration from bands such as Talking Heads, the group explode with sweeping synth lines and spiky guitar riffs, while the lyrics invite the listener into the mind of a disillusioned person. Already having ties to the theatrical piece Ubu which ran at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London band Famous make a wave of a splash with their new mini-album 'England'. A roller coaster ride of post-punk, new wave and art-pop, krautrock and more, the six-track record is theatre in itself with vocalist Jack Merrett delivering bold performances reminiscent of the likes of Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave and even elements of Mark E. Smith of The Fall. You can also hear influences of David Bowie swirling around 'England'.

Manchester's Dantevilles strike with a blazing iron in their latest single 'Fool For You'. Produced by Joseph Cross, the song is an energetic ride of punchy indie with splashes of new wave. Slick instrumentation combined with lively vocals, Dantevilles definitely took a no holds barred approach with the recording, delivering one thrilling and utterly brilliant track.
Stockholm band Sudakistan have released a monster of a single entitled 'Automation'. A flawless meshing of styles, the outfit blends together everything from alternative to new wave and disco. The upbeat, at times raging production is complimented by saucy vocals. With the lyrical content a sort of call to action of breaking away from that which controls you, 'Automation' is that musical roller coaster ride that you never want to end. The song is taken from 7" release which includes a Spanish cover version of The Stooges' 'I Wanna Be Your Dog'.
L.A. band Bleached bring forth a bit of punk funk and new wave with their latest single 'Hard to Kill'. The track is the follow-up to their recently released cut 'Shitty Ballet' which took a more acoustic folk pop meets punk approach. Both tunes will be featured on the group's upcoming LP 'Don’t You Think You’ve Had Enough', which is out July 12th via Dead Oceans.
Back in 2018 Vancouver band In Mirrors released their debut LP 'Escape From Berlin'. Produced by Italians Do It Better label boss Johnny Jewel, the seductive and cinematic album was another steamy offering from the IDIB camp, with a sound that fans have come to expect from the imprint.
Meg Myers has shared a cover version of the Kate Bush single 'Running Up That Hill'. Bush originally released the song in 1985, which was the lead-off single from her LP ' Hounds of Love'. Rather than restructuring the classic track, Myers stays consistent with the original version as well as deliver a highly similar vocal performance.
