London artisan Benjamin Clementine explores the American south west in his video 'Jupiter'. Directed by Lola Schnabel and shot in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Clementine dances among the lush, mountainous landscape whilst swinging an American flag. He also does things like visit a fair, all the while flamboyantly dressed and delving into the idea of Americana. The song is taken from his critically-praised second LP 'I Tell A Fly'. Have a look.
Benjamin Clementine is one of the most needed artists in music at the moment. The 2015 Mercury Prize-winning singer and pianist have amazed the world with his melancholic brand of modern classical fused with vivid storytelling more in line with French masters of the past.
With his second LP 'I Tell A Fly' out September 15th, the North London-raised musician has unveiled his new single titled 'Jupiter'. The song follows his previously released cuts 'Phantom Of Aleppoville' and 'God Save The Jungle'. Inspired by his observations of the state of America whilst touring, 'Jupiter' is a keen window into the quite turbulent times that the United States is currently moving through.
Jupiter is a French-English duo based in Paris, but they first met one night in London. An empty dancefloor, a one hit wonder (1982 funk classic Mama Used To Say), a band was born. Amélie and Quarles’ work relies on a common passion for a time when glitter and carelessness were kings. The impact of disco and electro-funk on their music is a clear one, yet the band happily quotes a wider range of influences, such as Sly & Robbie, Beach House, Alan Parsons Project, Siriusmo or even the Beastie Boys.
