Montreal duo Hollis P Monroe and Overnite known together as The Black 80s will release their album 'Heart to Art' on September 16th via Sonar Kollectiv. With both acts already making their mark in the house scene, their new album is laced with a heavy dose of soul and future jazz, brilliantly weaved around 4x4-driven kicks. Ten tracks in total, the album includes guests Dominik Marz and Yannick Labbé. Vibrant and unquestionably rhythmical, the duo's perfect bridging of classic New York-style house with a forward-thinking deep embedding is a nourishment for the ears and moveable for the feet.
Modified Man is the new musical project of respected South London-based producer, musician and Wah Wah 45s co-owner Adam Scrimshire and musician/producer Dave Koor. Both who have been at the helm of creating forward-thinking sounds, the pair have come together to release their debut collaborative EP 'Modifications: Set 1', out June 10th on Albert's Favourites. Six tracks in total, the new record uses live instrumentation to bridge the past, present and idea of the future fostering a unique take of hazy soul, cosmic jazz, deep broken beat and more.
Italian producer SofaTalk is gearing up for the release of his new EP 'Fairy Dust', out April 11th via Roots Underground Records. The four song record is a smooth and silky weaving of future jazz, house and broken beat. Cosmic in every sense of the word, guests include Kris Tidjan, who provide soulful vocals on the title track. The release harks back to the glorious period of the mid-2000s where acts like 4Hero and Jazzanova were defining a forward-thinking style of music. SofaTalk is brilliantly continuing the legacy. With Marcel Lune's 'Desert Gully' LP being one of the top selections of the year, the wonder producer is now set to release his new remix project 'Desert Gully Revisited' on December 11th via Studio Rockers. Contributing a new, soulful future-house track entitled 'Temples'to the new EP, Lune also calls upon Frankfurt producer PNFA to deliver a techno-driving rework of the cut 'Gully State', whilst Hi-Ryze marks his return with a lush broken-beat version of 'Nookula'. Jerusalem producer Bunny On Acid rounds out the selection with healthy dose of flying future-jazz for his remix of 'Voyager'. Although there are big shoes to fill in comparison to the original album, 'Desert Gully Revisited' highly does it justice with each producer delivering quality remixes at their peak. We have a preview which you can hear below.
