Known for consistently and boundlessly pushing her artistry, London-based Johanna Glaza is set to release her new album 'Exile', out February 28th. She has also unveiled the official video to the title track. Directed by Laima Stasiulionyte, the black and white-shot visuals beautifully captures Glaza amidst a village landscape, with the artist strolling down the winding roads.
London-born, Paris-based artist ALA.NI has released her new album 'ACCA'. Written in various cities including in several cities including New York, Mexico and Los Angeles, the LP features guests appearances by music legend Iggy Pop, as well as Lakeith Stanfield. Aside from executing stunning performances throughout the songs, ALA.NI also uses multiple vocal layering techniques, with her voice becoming a part of the instrumentation within the production.
Archy Marshall aka King Krule will release his new album titled 'Man Alive' on February 21st via XL Recordings/Matador Records. The new work follows his 2017 LP 'The Ooz'. Marshall has also unveiled a new video for is single '(Don't Let The Dragon) Draag On'. Directed and written by King Krule himself, the black and white video features him tied to a tree with the camera slowly panning out only to show Marshall being set on a blaze by a group of hunters. Norway's Stian Westerhus has announced the released of his forthcomning album 'Redundance', which is out March 6th on House of Mythology. Having already shared the song 'There's A Light' back in July of last year, which is taken from the new LP, Westerhus has now unveiled his latest single titled 'Chase the New Morning'. Musically juggling between that which is beautiful and haunting, the song begins with sparse instrumentation, led by Stian Westerhus' unique vocals, before exploding with a noise element of fizzing and crushing synths. Eventually returning to a calmer state, 'Chase the New Morning' is mental and musical journey that makes for an incredible record.
NYC-based experimental artists Eartheater and LEYA have teamed-up for an EP titled 'Angel Lust'. This latest work follows their previous collaborative track '666', which was featured on LEYA's 2018 album 'The Fool'. Comprised of four songs in total, the EP is an ethereal soundscape with LEYA providing haunting production as the underlay to Eartheater's ghostly vocal delivery.
Athens collective The Callas will release a new deluxe edition of their 2018 LP 'Trouble And Desire'. Scheduled to land January 24th, the record will include three unreleased songs. The LP which featured Lee Ronaldo, was an extension of their collaborative soundtrack for Th Callas film 'The Great Eastern'.
London's Benin City have built a reputation on brilliantly experimenting with sound and genre blending, resulting in their own distinct style. For their latest single 'Lord Of The Manor', Benin City continue to push sonic boundaries whilst delivering thought-provoking lyrics shining a spotlight on a young working class Londoner. Produced by James Greenwood, the husky production encompasses rumbling bass liners topped with slight distortion on the vocals of Joshua Idehen and Shanaz Dorsett.
According to Swans front man Michael Gira, the new incarnation of the band is more of a collaboration effort with a rotating crop of musicians contributing their efforts to create something magical. With Swans' new album 'leaving meaning' out October 25th, the personnel for the record includes Kristof Hahn (who has been with the band since 2010), Larry Mullins (who has played with Swans harking back to the late 90s and a contributor to Gira's Angel of Light project) Anna and Maria von Hausswolff, trio The Necks, Ben Frost, Yoyo Röhm, Baby Dee, Heather Trost and Jeremy Barnes. There are also additional contributions from original Swans member Norman Westberg.
