Dubokaj Embraces the Art of Experimenting with ‘Alpine Dub Re Dub’

The roots of dub reggae are earthed in the musical soil of Jamaica harking back to the 1960s. The sound would later become an intricate part of the fabric of England as various West Indian sound systems shook up the country with bass-heavy, meditative rhythms that captivated skins, punks and general music lovers alike. The lineage of the sub-genre were later found in stitching of jungle/drum & bass, UK garage, grime and the infamous culture of dubstep. And sure dub music has also been embraced by producers and musicians in countries like Japan, America and more, but the country of Switzerland may not be the first place to land in one's psyche.

Resonators Deliver Another Masterful Album with ‘Imaginary People’

Back in 2012 Resonators released their debut LP ‘The Constant’, a perfect five-star album of dub reggae stamping both the roots of Jamaica with the best additives of England, with even Sir David Rodigan proudly boasting about its authenticity of sound. With four years having past, the big question was, how would Resonators’ sophomore attempt pair up with the first? The answer...very well. ‘Imaginary People’ is a proper continuation from where they left off years back, with an even bolder confidence reflecting that they are indeed one of the best bands of today recording dub reggae.

Nubiyan Twist Deliver Their Ska-Fused Track ‘Headhunter’

Whilst there have been a number of bands to try to recreate the sound of ska and afrobeat, Leeds band Nubiyan Twist have done it well...extremely well. In 2015, they released their self-titled debut album which garnished support from the likes of David Rodigan and Huey Morgan, just to name a few. With their forthcoming EP 'Siren Song' scheduled to land May 27th on Wormfood Records, the 12 piece band now unveil their new track 'Headhunter'. Heavy-hitting with a roundhouse kick of ska, the festive song is an instant warmer, giving more credibility to the idea that Nubiyan Twist are one of the best to do it in these modern times.
