Creamfields 2018 at Daresbury, August 23rd – 26th, Cheshire

The abundance of scaffold and trussing that makes up the structure is also a production designer’s dream. As a result, Generator will provide an all-round spectacle that will include an enormous all-encompassing and multi-dimensional wall of LED screens at the stage end, not to mention an abundance of lights, lasers, and pyro that will span the length and breadth of the structure. Once again, the bar has been raised, with Generator proving that when it comes to pushing the limits of what is possible, Creamfields remains way ahead of the curve.

AELI’s ‘Late Future Calls’ Gets the Remix Treatment

Dubai may not be the first place that pops up in anyone's mind regarding Hip-Hop and trap music, however Tunisian producer AELI delivered one of the most culturally relevant beat albums of the past few years with his 2016 release 'Late Future Calls'. Fusing bass-shaking, head-nodding production with more traditional sounds of the Middle Eastern region, the LP was a beautiful marriage of the past and present, crossing all boundaries and borders. Whilst the idea of remixing tracks that in itself don't need reworking, AELI has recruited a few heavyweight acts to have a go at delivering their interpretations of a few cuts from the LP.

Top Pick: Hector Plimmer ‘Sunshine’

If we are to discuss the music of South London native Hector Plimmer, it is best to stay away from the idea of genre. Sure one could possibly sort out various elements in terms of the type of music he creates, but to even dwell that far into dissection is almost to miss the beauty and craftsmanship of his art. If a description just had to be placed on his new LP 'Sunshine', possibly sonic voodoo could come close. Perhaps dream state music is appropriate. No matter what description one chooses to attribute to Plimmer's sound, one thing is certain, 'Sunshine' is truly a gorgeous ray of light, lifting and point blank beautiful.

Modified Man Interview

To modify anything is to simply make changes. It would then make sense for well-respected musicians Adam Scrimshire and Dave Koor to come together to alter the current state of music, powered by sophisticated instrumentation and the idea of futurism. This concept of pushing sound forward also comes from firmly planted roots steeped deep in jazz, soul, funk, afrobeat, rock, electronica and more. These are genres that both Scrimshire and Koor know well with keen expertise. This is also why their 'Modifications: Set 1' album under the guise of Modified Man will undoubtedly go down as one of the most entertaining and important releases of the year.
