Wye Oak is slated to drop their LP 'Civilian + Cut All the Wires: 2009–2011' on October 22nd via Merge Records. The record is a double reissue celebrating 10 years since the release of their 2011 album 'Civilian'.
Wye Oak have shared the official music video to their latest single 'TNT', the first of two releases landing this month. Directed by Spencer Kelly, the dream-like visuals feature singer Jenn Wasner sitting in grass whilst floating mirrors above her display various reflections which metaphorically coincide with the theme of the track itself.
It has been over four years since Baltimore band Lower Dens released their 2015 LP 'Escape From Evil'. Whilst these days a four year gap might as well be a decade, the group will drop their new album 'The Competition' on September 6th via Domino Records. Described as a pop album that touches on the political climate, Lower Dens have also unveiled a video for the song 'Young Republicans', which is the lead single from the upcoming record. Directed by Raul Gonzo, there are clips portraying the acts of absurdity of a young man and woman who are born into privilege with no care of worries for others. Shot in a retro style, Lower Dens singer Jana Hunter constantly pops up next to them before becoming their victim.
For Baltimore band Wye Oak's 'It Was Not Natural' video, singer Jenn Wasner goes a bit supernatural. She makes utensils levitate whilst eating a fine cuisine consisting of a hot dog, peas and carrots, not to mention triggers flickering kitchen lights as she scrambles eggs. It should also be noted that this occurrences take place in the between Wasner standing among a bunch of men in purple latex suits in the forest. Sure it's a bit trippy but isn't good art supposed to be just that?
