Make no mistake, Jeb Loy Nichols carries the spirit of a bluesman in his heart like a permanent birthmark. Originally from Wyoming but raised in Missouri, the singer has trekked across the US, living in states such as Texas and New York before venturing across the pond to the UK in 1982.
Having released records as a member of Fellow Travellers, as well as solo LPs such as Lovers Knot on Capitol and Just What Time It Is on Rough Trade, Nichols’ latest single is the soul-spruced cut ‘That’s How We’re Living’. Singing the anthem for those hard workers who are still down and out, the song is a flawless execution of new age blues and upbeat funk, wrapped with authenticity and utter integrity. The song is taken from Jeb Loy Nichols’ forthcoming mini-album Ya Smell Me, out December 11 on City Country City Records.
