JUNO Award-winning Canadian outfit Said The Whale have shared their new single ‘Step Into The Darkness’, taken from their forthcoming album As Long As Your Eyes Are Wide. The song is a semi-melancholic, semi-hopeful look at a past love, lifted by swirling indie pop production.
Regarding ‘Step Into The Darkness’, Ben Worcester wrote:
“Step Into The Darkness” was written after a devastating break-up with my girlfriend of six years. The song is me reaching out to comfort my love, reassuring her that she is safe and despite the immense sadness and feeling of loss, perhaps good things will come. We got back together shortly thereafter.”
Recorded in multiple studios across Vancouver, Said The Whale’s As Long As Your Eyes Are Wide was produced by Cayne McKenzie of We Are The City. The LP follows their critically acclaimed, 2013 album hawaiii.
