It’s been three years since the release of Nina Schofield’s LP Shapes. Whilst she has since released songs including ‘Beat Another Rhythm’ and ‘My Life’, she now returns with her latest single titled ‘The Gift’. Celebrating that feeling of love in a beautiful relationship, the ballad was featured on the BBC television drama Mother, Father Son. Although we’re only assuming that Schofield is in the studio working on a new album, ‘The Gift’ is a well-polished offering that gives an indication that more magic is in the works.

Touching on the song, Nina Schofield said:

“I wrote ‘The Gift’ to celebrate that feeling you have in a relationship where you know that this person is someone you could spend the rest of you life with. I went back to my roots writing this – just the piano and my voice – this I how I first started writing and it’s where I feel at home. That’s why it was important to keep the song in acoustic form even though it’s a step away from my usual pop style.”
