If there was an artist whose voice was like a vessel carrying the spirits and energies of past greats, Berlin’s Lucia Cadotsch would undoubtedly be that person. With sometimes haunting, sometimes seductive vocals that are entrancing like a hypnotist at work, Cadotsch’s power is like a modern Billie Holiday, ripe and pure.

With her Speak Low renditions LP scheduled to land on the 27th of April, Lucia Cadotsch has restructured the original Speak Low album pushing the sound into the present musical arena. Reworks come courtesy of the likes of Julian Sartorius, Frans Petter, Dan Nicholls, Trummerschlunk and Marc Lohr. Speak Low renditions will get released via Enja / Yellowbird Records.

For the Frans Petter version of ‘Speak Low’ featuring Julian Sartorius, the song is whipped into a hazy and airy bliss of psych-jazz, as running sax notes dance around Cadotsch’s reeling voice. Indeed the legends would be proud. Stream ‘Speak Low (Frans Petter version)’ below.
