Listen to Jake Houlsby’s ‘Oklahoma’

For the past three years Newcastle’s Jake Houlsby has been releasing a number of captivating indie folk records that are nothing short of enchanting. With his latest single ‘Oklahoma’, Houlsby draws inspiration from singer Woody Guthrie and his depictions of the American state. The song’s triumphant feel combined with Houlsby’s mesmeric vocal delivery is absolutely magic. We wouldn’t be surprised if the track pops up on the soundtrack of major motion film or television series. The single is produced by Mick Ross. Out on the 29th of March, you can stream ‘Oklahoma’ below.

Touching on the song, Jake Houlsby wrote:

“There’s something about the American South that has always enchanted me. I’d just read Woody Guthrie’s autobiography a few years ago when I remember seeing pictures of Oklahoma and getting this weird feeling of discount and nostalgia. I wrote this song shortly after.”
