Having acquired critical praises for their 2021 debut album Bright Green Field, Squid have announced the release of their sophomore LP titled O Monolith. The new record lands June 9th on Warp. Produced by Dan Carey, Squid began working on O Monolith back in 2021 whilst on tour. The album is stated to be another dense piece of work, touching on the current state of the world today.

Squid have also released a video for their latest single ‘Swing (In a Dream)’. Directed by Yoonha Park, what begins as a simple day in a basketball gym quickly progresses into a wild state of randomness including deer walking on the court and barbecuing. Musically the track is a brilliant mixture of post-punk, as well as free jazz that is quite smouldering.

Touching on the single, Squid’s Ollie Judge mentioned:

“This was inspired by a dream I had about a painting called The Swing by Jean-Honoré Fragonard. In my dream I was in the painting but it was flooded and everything was floating away.”
