After close to a three year window period since their track ‘Can’t Take You Anywhere’, UK rock royalty Skunk Anansie have kicked off 2025 with a new single titled ‘An Artist Is An Artist’.
Declaring that once an artist, always an artist, the song is rooted in the spirit of punk as the content addresses modern day validations such as comments on social media, etc. Front woman Skin takes the stand that regardless of followers, views, or what have you, if you are operating in the purest sense of art, nothing else matters. It should also be noted that this single is produced by none other than Dave Sitek, which paired with Skunk Anansie’s already mountainous energy, is a marriage made in heaven.
Touching on working with Dave Sitek on ‘An Artist Is An Artist’, Skunk Anansie’s Skin said:
“His name seemed to be on a lot of records that we liked. But none of the records sounded the same. The records all sounded fresh, but mainly the artists all sounded like themselves.”
Skunk Anansie have also announced dates for their UK and EU tour which kicks off in February. Check the listing below for dates and cities.
