The original version of “Springful” by Leeds band Adult Jazz was more of a minimal, swinging blues/alternative/beats mesh that in a way, was hard to really place in one category or genre. Yet while there is a joyfulness about the song, Seattle Hip-Hop duo Shabazz Palaces transform the track into more of a haunting, semi-bouncy-almost tribal abstract soundscape. To describe the remix as interesting is an understatement. Shabazz Palaces have never been ones to shy away from the blurred lines of experimentalism and the weird, which is what makes them one of the more fascinating Hip-Hop acts today. This rework is no exception. Have a listen.
