Roots Manuva Unveils ‘Like A Drum’ Prod. By Machinedrum

If there is any man who truly deserves credit for his contribution to UK music it would be Rodney Smith aka Roots Manuva. For 20 years, Smith has not only helped to give creditability to UK Hip-Hop throughout the world (including in The U.S.), but his choice of experimental production bridging electronica, dancehall, dub and more, has literally influenced countless acts that have emerged within the last decade. Roots Manuva was also an early supporter of Sheffield producer Toddla T, who he worked with on his 2008 LP Slime & Reason.

A couple of weeks ago, Roots Manuva shared a new Four Tet-produced single entitled ‘Facety 2:11’, which is set to drop May 4th on Big Dada. Now the MOBO Award-winning artist delivers the b-side track to the single ‘Like A Drum’, which is produced by Machinedrum. Using chopped samples, the song is reminiscent of Smith’s earlier work on his 1999 debut solo album Brand New Second Hand. You can listen to ‘Like A Drum’ via Noisey.
