NYC band Public Circuit have unleashed their new LP Modern Church on à La Carte Records. This is the follow-up to their album Lamb, which was released back in March of 2024.
Comprised of 8 tracks in total, Modern Church finds the outfit delivering a shimmering and upbeat taste of new wave and synth-pop, touched up with post-punk brush strokes. Although it is easy to instantly be shot with a blast of early 80s nostalgia, there is a strong sense of modernism firmly embedded in the sounds that defy eras and timelines. If one of the goals of the record is to make you get up and move, then Public Circuit have surely accomplished that goal. Stream Modern Church below.
Regarding the LP, Public Circuit’s Ethan Biamont stated:
“Modern Church represents the collapse of connection—the album’s chants are hollow, stripped back, and full of seething energy. As we departed from the sound of our last album, we don’t see change as an enemy, but as a tool — a structure that can be repurposed, re-tuned into a tightly wound and potent new form.”
