If there were ever to be a meeting ground of classic jungle, grime and bouncy electro-driven bass, Otik’s forthcoming Strangelove EP would be the hub. Out July 24th on Infinite Machine, the new recording finds the London producer bending and manipulating the breakbeat blueprint of 90s UK jungle, giving it a modern twist, fitting for this generation of ravers, yet appreciated by the patrons of the past. Although the EP possesses and air of nostalgia, Otik’s production is a leap forward into the now with traces of the influences rather a tearjerker of the “good old days”, which makes this an excellent recording. Below is a preview of Strangelove.
