Back in 2011, Newcastle-based Nick Pride & The Pimptones released their debut album “Midnight Feast Of Jazz”, a barrage dance floor powered soul, funk and breakbeats that would spark a new pulse into the dead. The impressive record drew praises from the likes of BBC 6 presenter Craig Charles and more, highlighting some of the grooviest sounds pumping from the North East region of England.
For their second album “Rejuiced Phat Shake”, Nick Pride & The Pimptones pick up from where they left off, with more slick production and soul strutting, creating a tidal wave of high octane funk, jazz and boogie. Adding more features to the LP, guests on the album include Beth Macari, Lydon Anderson, Courtney Velecia, Karen Harding and the Renegade Brass Band, just to name a few. Jess Roberts and Susan Hamilton also contributes to the record, both of which who appeared on “Midnight Feast Of Jazz”. From horn ripping, uptempo rhythms to cinematic, sweet soul ballads, Nick Pride & The Pimptone’s “Rejuiced Phat Shake” packs more than a punch, but rather a solid TKO in the ring of jazz funk.
Nick Pride & The Pimptone’s “Rejuiced Phat Shake” is out now on Légére Recordings.
