Stream Kush K’s ‘MRK’

Hailing from Switzerland is the band Kush K, whose sound is a perfect marriage of hazy indie, post-punk, psychedelic, 60s pop and more. The four-piece will release their new album ‘Lotophagi’ on April 24th. ‘Lotophagi’, which translates to Lotus-eaters (the group of island people in which by Ulysses came across during his travels), is a collection of tracks recorded throughout a span of late night sessions, many of the tunes done in single takes. The group wanted an improvised feel, bringing listeners closer to an organic listening experience.

One of the songs taken from the upcoming LP is the track ‘MRK’. Singer Catia delivers luscious vocals over racing post-punk meets psych rhythms resulting in the perfect meeting point of that which is classic and newly refreshing. The band completely shift the mood and tempo during breakdowns, fostering woozy instrumentation before once gain upping the tempo. A beyond exhilarating musical journey, we have a stream of ‘MRK’ which you can check out below.

Touching on ‘Lotophagi’, Kusk K singer and musician Catia said:

“You can think of this record as a book on quantum physics and spirituality, where you suddenly see the human claim to power and success lose all meaning. As far as everyday narratives are concerned, it’s like a modern novel with short stories about friends, lovers and random strangers going about their business in a rather turbulent city.”
