Sydney-based pair Party Dozen have announced the release of their new album Crime in Australia. The forthcoming record is slated to drop September 6th on Temporary Residence Ltd. This is the follow-up to their 2022 LP The Real Work. Along with the news Party Dozen have also shared their latest single ‘The Big Man Upstairs’.

What you get with ‘The Big Man Upstairs’ is a hypnotic mixture of 90s shoegaze and whirling punk. In some ways the track has a Sonic Youth feel to it. With a punchy circling guitar riff revving throughout the track, the ghostly vocal work adds a haunting air. There is even a sax solo towards the end that gives it an added lift.

Along with the single, Party Dozen have also dropped an accompanying video to the song. The visuals feature documentary footage which sheds a spotlight on Joh Bjelke-Petersen, the longest serving head of government in Queensland.
