Liverpool outfit Monks have shared their latest single ‘Welcome Home’, which is out on Not That Records/Virgin Music. The track is taken from their forthcoming EP Worldview.
‘Welcome Home’ is a pulsing experimental electronic pulsing with a dance-driven rhythm possessing aspects of techno meeting progressive house, dark pop, and indie dance, all rolled up into quite a unique record. The vocals take a more alternative rock approach which adds to it’s outside the box appeal. In some ways we’re getting The Rapture vibes but Monks are surely paving their own lane, which is surely refreshing.
Regarding the song, Monks mentioned:
“Welcome Home’ is a song about the love of family and the importance of it. Whether it’s your blood relation, your friends, your partners. ‘Welcome Home’ is a homage to being comfortable with the people who surround you and are there for you unconditionally, ‘Welcome Home’ is an homage to the way of life in Liverpool and how the city embraces the people within it, the track is the feeling of stepping foot off the train in Lime St Station after being down south, which any Scouser will know.”
