Dropping her song ‘Temperance’ back in November of last year, singer and musician Melissa Lingo aka meka has unveiled her new track ‘Tomato Song’. The single is taken from her forthcoming album The Rabbit, landing May 21st via Dumont Dumont.

‘Tomato Song’ is a dreamy and gorgeous slice of folk that is utterly warming. The track fosters a sense of late 60s nostalgia as its tender piano play wonderfully balances meka’s quite mature and striking vocal performance. There storytelling in ‘Tomato Soup’ is unquestionably vivid with a poetic dance, making the track an overall exceptional record.

Regarding ‘Tomato Song’, meka said:

“Some things are so unbearably sad or unbearably beautiful that it’s hard for me to tell a dream from life from nightmare. My mom does sleep in the garden every summer, protecting her peas and strawberries from deer and rabbits, and you can usually find me perched somewhere with a cigarette, bargaining with death. ‘Tomato song’ is ripe with rot, an ode to the in between, to the Graveyard of Dreams, which also happens to be the Fertile Compost for Hope.”
